Q: What is BABIS?
A: BABIS stands for BOSTON ACQUIRED BRAIN INJURY SUPPORT GROUP.
Q: How did BABIS start?
A: BABIS was started in January 2001 by a multidisciplinary group of clinicians as well as families and survivors. It is a community support group for people of all ages who have had some type of brain injury.
Q: What is the mission of BABIS?
A: The mission of BABIS is to provide a positive forum for peer socialization, hope and education for people with acquired brain injury, their families and their friends.
Q: What happens at a BABIS Meeting?
A: We offer support to individuals with acquired brain injuries, their families and friends, and professionals.
Q: What is the format of the group?
A: 10:00-10:30 AM: Socialization and refreshments
10:30-12:00 PM Presentation of a topic of interest by lecture or panel discussion. A separate family/ caregiver discussion takes place at the same time.
